ION MENTORS STEM STUDENTS

ION Corporation is committed to providing our educational community with opportunities to further STEM (Science Technology Engineering & Math) students’ efforts to become engineers. As part of that commitment, ION has provided two students from a local high school with an R&D and engineering assignment complimented with the necessary engineering tools (RFID systems, 3-D modeling software, database programming software, SharePoint development, 3-D printer). The goal for these students was to develop a system to provide industries with a mobile application decreasing engineering, production and test inefficiencies. Ultimately, the research and system these young engineers will provide industry with another strong example of how to reduce negative impacts on our community and on Earth.

Tom Jones, ION mentor, states “Andrew and Jack are seniors in high school preparing for their pursuit of technical degrees. ION is proud to support their R&D efforts and propel them forward towards success with software, hardware, and database systems.” With this support, Andrew and Jack plan to submit their research and engineering efforts to science and engineering fairs within the nation in 2015.

ION Corporation provides custom engineering, manufacturing and test services to the aerospace, defense, and commercial industries providing engineering and flight qualification of ruggedized electronic systems, fabrication of mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems for the past 30 years.
